Smaro Getsios

LMSW, Psychotherapist

pronouns: she/her

Smaro Getsios is a psychotherapist, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy provider, and Reiki practitioner who brings rigorous clinical training, soulful curiosity, and deep experiential insight to her work with individuals navigating transition, grief, and spiritual emergence.

With a BA in Philosophy from SUNY New Paltz, along with minors in Religious Studies and Ancient World History, and a graduate degree from Fordham University, Smaro’s foundation is both intellectually disciplined and deeply attuned to the symbolic and existential dimensions of human experience. Her clinical roots in hospice and medical social work continue to inform a practice that reveres presence and the inherent intelligence within suffering.

Smaro’s approach is relational, trauma-informed, and philosophically grounded. She works at the intersection of psyche, body, and spirit, helping clients metabolize complex emotional and existential experiences into meaningful, embodied change. Drawing from psychodynamic and somatic perspectives, as well as energy work and expanded-state therapies, she supports clients in accessing deeper layers of insight, release, and integration. Her work is informed by an ongoing engagement with diverse cultural perspectives on healing and care.

With an imaginal and disciplined sensibility, Smaro helps clients hold the tension between bold movement and deep feeling—translating pain into practice, and insight into lived transformation. She co-creates a grounded therapeutic space where clients can reclaim voice and agency, cultivate resilience, and move toward greater alignment in their inner and outer lives.
